Busy Weeknight Dinner & Groceries “Shipt” to My Door!

Hey guys! So if you don’t already know from previous blog posts my boyfriend and I both used to live in NYC and we both moved to Austin, TX. We were both very excited to live in a city with more nature and a more laid back vibe. Honestly, the only thing we both really miss is the quickness and convenience of just about everything. I once was sick with a terrible flu in NYC and I had my groceries delivered. It was seriously amazing. So guess what? We can now get our groceries shipped in Austin with a new grocery delivery service called Shipt. Can I get a hallelujah?

So, Shipt just launched yesterday. I was so excited when I found out. My boyfriend and I are both very busy with our jobs. He is usually on calls throughout the day and I am a full time blogger, which takes up way more time than you would think.. trust me! At the end of the work day I usually don’t feel like getting in my car, dealing with Austin’s traffic, going to the grocery store, puttering around the store for over an hour and then back to traffic to make it home almost two hours later. The best thing about Shipt is you can download the app, browse categories like: Produce, fruit, sale items, summer dinners, etc and click the items you want, add to your cart and voila!

Today we both had a super busy day with work and of course didn’t have time to make it to the store so we tried Shipt for the first time. Check out our experience below.

It was seriously so easy. I loved Shipt’s app compared to other delivery apps. My favorite category would have to be “Dinner Tonight” as you can see in the above image to the left.  It actually gives you dinner ideas like “pasta night” or “grilled salmon” once you click on it. (above image on the right.) You then click on the dinner idea and all of the groceries that you need to make that dinner are pulled up for you. This is a great idea for people who can’t ever decide on what to make.

Another cool feature, when you are done placing your order, is that you can pick a delivery window that works best for you. Today I knew I would be home from 3-4 so that’s the window I left open.

While the Shipt member was at the store they text you to let you know. My Shipt deliverer, Helen, also asked which color flowers I would like because I ordered flowers and forgot to add the color.  She also said if I needed anything else I can just let her know. It felt a lot more personal than other delivery services. Almost like having your own assistant, which was lovely.

How pretty are the flowers I got?!

Helen was very friendly and unloaded all of my groceries from a red wagon. It really was a special experience and I loved the fact that I was even able to have fresh flowers delivered alongside my groceries!

So, curious to know what we made with our groceries? We made a grilled chicken breast with sun dried tomatoes, basil and fresh mozzarella. It was so easy!

1. First grease your casserole dish and place your chicken in the dish. I put some salt, pepper and oregano on top. Put the chicken in the oven at 375 degrees for 15 minutes.

2. While the chicken is cooking cut up some fresh basil, gather your sun dried tomatoes and cut up some garlic.

3. Once the 15 minutes is up take the chicken out, mix the toppings and sprinkle on top of the chicken.

4. Lastly add a slice of fresh mozzarella for each piece of chicken. Place in the oven for another 15 minutes and voila. Dinner is ready!

IMG_4645You can also add a veggie to the side or wild rice. I used boiled beets for our side,  garnish of parsley and some fresh cracked pepper for the final touch.

This was such a great experience. I will be using Shipt at least once a week from now on! Are you going to give it a try? I would highly recommend it.

Cheers,

Scarlett

Holy “Shipt”. That is so awesome! I wonder if they have something like this in Seattle. Now I know, being the home of Amazon we have Amazon two hour delivery so that is probably pretty close. But I love the personal touches.
